Hale Family Scrapbook
William Hale (father of James Henry Hale below) migrated with his family from North Carolina to Smith County, Tennessee. December of 1819 he joined Hogan's Creek Missionary Baptist Church with his Father, Nathaniel Hale and wife Polly, and began Preaching at age 19. About 1835 William Hale and his wife Mary moved to Lafayette County, Mississippi. William's primary ministry when he moved to the area was converting the Chickasaw Indians to Christianity. He was evidently fluent in their language and was very successful in his efforts. He went on to found 6 Churches, one of which is Philadelphia Baptist Church, whose Pastor today knows the name William Hale.
